The Three Aspects of Power

When it comes to the realms of technology, magic, and magitech, inevitably one has to ask where these great powers come from.   The answer to this question is a multitude. Some will say it comes from long hours of study and years of research spent in solitude to learn the mysteries of the universe and how to manipulate it.   For others, they will say it comes from personal talent and aptitude, that you were born to engage with the world on a level that others could only dream of.   Items of great power, precise application of ritualistic ceremonies, connection with others, the list goes on and on as to the source of the many amazing feats created by both beings and their creations.   However these powers are captured, there is only one simple truth, each and every source of worldly application has to be drawn from one of three sources and often a combination of two or all three of them.      Manipulation of Reality:   Whether it's a wizard casting a fireball or the use of a battery-powered plasma rifle, this is the realm where more traditional methods of magic and technology are often considered. Drawing from All-Existence itself, the manipulation of reality is one that most beings will draw from in one form or another. Including the creation of helpful everyday tools, usage of appropriate physical resources, or bending of its otherwise inflexible laws. Whatever the case may be, the rules here are simple: You can only use what already exists.     Utilization of Divinity's Conceptual Ideals:   Often called upon by individuals in touch with a greater being, this power is often subscribed to as being divine. While that's not necessarily untrue, the truth is far more complex. As the divine beings and all things like them are manifestations of the conceptual ideals that help to cultivate and flavor All-Existence's many universes, so too is the power drawn from them and similar sources. In other words, it is not the manipulation of reality that these powers utilize but instead the usage of ideas. Here, faith, determination, and resolve all play a role in determining an idea's effect on the world. Should you believe, so it is done. However, ideas are fickle things, and their inspiration, much like a god's favor, may ebb and flow in ways that are not always favorable.     Casting of One's Fostered Soul:   The final aspect is a simple one. Because one's soul grows through experience and choice, it lends itself to reason that one can therefore cultivate their soul to certain ends. It is the practice of a soldier on the training ground to enable them to perform great feats on the battlefield, the silence of a well-trained and cautious assassin as they stalk their prey through the dark night, and it is the sorcerer's careful perseverance of self that enables them to cast their very nature onto the world before them. This power does not rely upon reality or ideals, but instead, how one chooses to craft and express oneself.       Finally, some have considered the possibility of using All-Nothing as a means to an end. It seems to be a great power after all. One capable of destroying the entirety of reality as we know it. However, this has always been a fool's pursuit though not because of the danger involved, as there's certainly much to be had, but rather because inevitably it will end in failure. However you try to twist it or encourage it, you cannot. The reason is easy to understand.   You can't use the power of the All-Nothing... because there is nothing there for you to actually use.
