Wulverro (Wul- ver-ro)
Calamity Hounds
Created from those who gave the greatest sacrifice while trying to warn others of natural disasters, the Wulverro are a divine species of hunters and guides throughout Caldros' temperamental storms. First appearing as distorted howls before a major disaster, the Wulverro channel their furious anger at having been ignored in life towards finding those who draw their god's ire. Those who have seen a Wulverro pack working in tandem with each other claim that it is quite a sight to see how each embodiment of disaster uniquely hammers down upon their chosen prey with a calm yet, immense strength.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Appearing much like ephemeral wolves, the Wulverro bear distinct canine visages blended with the natural disasters that they represent. This includes but isn't limited to having dripping black fur and blue electric arcs for storms, swirling sand mixed with their tan fur for sandstorms, and possessing an almost ashy flow to their fur with red sparks scattered throughout for forest fires. Often seen wearing armor stamped with Caldros' holy symbol, they are a terrifying shape to behold for enemies and a comforting presence for allies.
Genetics and Reproduction
Forged from the souls of those who tried to warn others of great natural disasters only to be ignored, the divine Wulverro continued their duty even unto death. Being utterly destroyed while mortal by the natural disasters that now form their body, A Wulverro is uniquely equipped to protect others against the very disasters that they warned against. As such, it is not unusual for favored mortals to receive a Wulverro's blessing for being able to sense specific disasters and thus prepare themselves adequately for them.
Ecology and Habitats
As the favored hounds of Cadros, the Wulverro glide through the clouds of Xepherypha's hurricane-like visage with unerring grace as they patrol the storm god's domain for intruders and invasion. Otherwise, they can be found alighted throughout the trophy islands of the mercurial god's realm helping mortals to learn the lessons they need to fall into Caldros' good graces.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Though they do not need to eat or drink, the Wulverro have a wolfish disposition for freshly cooked meats and may be willing to offer advice to those who seek their wisdom with some on hand.
Additional Information
Geographic Origin and Distribution
Though they are rarely found on the mortal planes, when they are seen it is generally because they are hunting for particularly egregious individuals who have drawn Caldros' anger. Otherwise, they have been known to answer summonings for storm familiar by those in Caldros' favor as well as being gifted as companions to those who have proven themselves worthy of the Storm Cloaked King's attention. There have also been myths of Wulverro suddenly appearing during periods of great natural disaster and protecting mortals from its harsh or deadly presence by lying next to them. While it is not substantiated, it is often thought that Wulverro who represent specific natural disasters are capable of protecting against those same natural disasters.
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
Equipped with divinely enhanced wolf-like senses, the Wulverro are well-equipped to hunt down all manners of prey as their master demands it. Bearing upon their victims like a rapidly forming storm. Before doing so, however, they will release a distinct distorted howl that warns their victims of the wrath they had wrought in Caldros' ire. It is said that if you hear their howl a major natural disaster is about to sweep through the area.
