The past few leaders of the country (2 Kings and 1 Queen, specifically) had proven weak, incapable, and vulnerable. The land was suffering due to their ineptitude and the common folk had had enough! A call for new blood on the throne was proposed, and a three year geo-political, military war ensued. The result from this kaleidoscope of civil wars, legal rewrites, and vision-fueled revolutions was the crowning of a new monarch- one of power, wisdom, some terror, and much enthusiasm!- Alastair Shadowby I, His Royal Majesty, First of His Name, King of Regencia.
