Aasimar

Aasimar are mortal beings that carry a divine spark within their beings, whether because they descend from a celestial or have been granted that power as a divine boon. Many aasimar possess features that single them out in relation to their peers. In humans, this typically appears as glowing eyes and unnaturally coloured hair. Granted this appearance and ability, aasimar are often viewed favourably by the societies in which they live. However, this often leads to an overloading of expectations upon them.

Additional Information

Social Structure

Aasimar by and large exist within already established societies, due mostly to their rarity. In spite of this, they are often elevated to positions of prominence within temples and holy orders, due to their divine connection. As aasimar are often held up by society, they often highly value order as a value. Aasimar who have rejected their positions of privilege live a very contrary life, often valuing passion or freedom.

Civilization and Culture

Major Language Groups and Dialects

Most aasimar speak the language of the place they were born, in conjunction with Common. However, due to the teaching of their celestial guides, they often also speak Celestial.

Common Myths and Legends

The principle fact about life as an aasimar is the everpresent, watching eyes of a divine guide. Due to their divine spark, the beings of the upper planes take a special interest in the lives of aasimar and shaping them towards noble purposes. Divine guides vary in their approach to guidance with some only sending dreams and others regularly conversing with their pupils. Regardless, it is within the power of an aasimar to sever this link to their divine guide. Doing so may send one down a dark path or on a prodigal journey.
