The villiage of "Ueno-Mura"

The settlement is build partially on the ground, but most of it is located in the tall trees above. This particular patch of forest has two different kinds of trees that are importent for the villiage. One provides food in form of fruits, but there are also large bats the size of a small child that are sometimes hunted. The second tree provides a sertain type of nuts that are usually not eaten, but instead grinded into dust and thrown into a fire to create a pleasent smell. These nuts are used during rituals, to calm the nerves. Through trading with tribes located near the forest border, otsiders have found out that these pulverized nuts also have a well tasting effect, in combination with sake.   Those two resaurces, as well as some clothing that the tribe crafts, are brought to the ground level of the villiage, in order to trade with other tribes. For this there are wooden platforms with ropes, that are pulled up and let down by hand for the goods and roped ladders for the people.

Industry & Trade

The unique fruit and nuts that are gather in the trees are stored there as well. Only when another tribe arrives in order to trade, are the exact amounts that are needed brrought dowwn to ground level. During trading season in spring, only the goods that are expected to be traded for that day are brought down, any additional goods have to be brought down on special request.   In addition the tribe also sells fruit bats they hunt as well as cloths and ropes they make.

History

Over 400 years ago when people where still just collecting, already fallen fruit from the ground, the "chika" tribe (wich is one of the clans living in the hills) was growing to big and it split in two. The part that evantually went into the trees, beacame the "sora no shita ni".
