Citadels

Stone structures of immense proportion that fully enclose a settlement of the Races of Man . Some are on the surface of Ri'isha while others are dug into the sides of mountains or simply straight down into the earth. They are made of a combination of igneous rock and inorganic clay as any material containing even the slightest hint of organic carbon is devoured by the black ichor of an Illviðri Hræðsla.

Sky Citadels

The second iteration of citadels were built upward instead of downward, made by extensive use of earth magic and conjuration. It is rumored the greatest of the sky cities Sky Citadel Caelum, creating a wonder of perfect symmetry and architectural wonder.

Discovery

The first citadels were created by burrowing into the side of a mountain or large hill and digging downward. These ideas made up the original dwarven holds of old and were copied by the other races in order to survive. After the initial wave of digging down several more magically inclined cities instead built upward into the sky creating massive stone structures that fully encompassed their settlement, building upward instead of outward as their populations grew from both birth rate and the inevitable arrival of refugees. The first Sky Citadel, as they came to be known, was completed 43 years after the first Illviðri Hræðsla appeared in the skies of Ri'isha.
