Lung Filters
Lung Filters are a type of cyborg technology designed and developed by the android Meddine Burro in the aftermath of the Djoro eruption. They are used to purify the air inside lungs and repair damage caused by toxic fumes, and were first used to treat patients with Farmer's Lung.
The supervolcano eruption sent toxic fumes across half of Azpal, leading to mass cases of Farmer's Lung in survivors. At the time, drug treatment was rarely effective in acute and severe chronic cases. As cyborg technology was being developed to reduce the fatality rate, a lung filter prototype was designed and tested.
The first patient to receive a lung filter fitted was sixteen-year-old Loloa Sheke. It showed promise but was not as effective as hoped. She was later fitted with a new version.
Meddine Burro was the first Alpazoi Android and heavily involved in the creation of cyborg technology with her father/creator Fazar Burro. She personally designed the lung filters, based on an idea she had just prior to the eruption.
Lung Filters became standard in treating Farmer's Lung and related lung conditions before the final evacuation of Azpal. All cyborgs who were converted at the time had them fitted. After further testing and development post-evacuation, they became a standard part of the conversion process.
