A branch of the Brilliance magic that invigorates the world Reme. While Brilliance grants a form of light and heat, in its base form, to all life forms on Reme, Flux, breaks this mold. With its static and electric based power, which is probably why many call people with a Flux "Storm Born", a user is able to send out jolts of static from all over their body. They can channel it through an object, just like a Talent for Brilliance users, however, it is merely channeling the electricity more directly.

Transmission & Vectors

Flux Brilliance is not contagious. There is no known way for someone to acquire Flux from anything other than genetic mutation.

Causes

There are a few patterns in the disorder. Such as the fact that it can be passed down genetically (but seems to be recessive in nature). Seems to be more common in families with closer ties to the icy regions of Vesile and Rostalon. As well as the ancient kingdom of Cilantraa, which straddled the fringes of the Great Desert.

Symptoms

Common physical traits include; Blue eyes, pulsating blue veins during use, common incompatibility with Emanation process.

Treatment

There is no known "cure" for the Flux. However, few have been able to defy what was previously thought of as incompatible and develop an Emanation. Seemingly having all of their "Symptoms" fade away as well as their power.

Prognosis

The disorder does not hamper the individual in any physical sense, quite the opposite actually, as the electrical backlash to the body actually causes faster reactions and stronger muscles. However, the Flux does effect the Brain and Heart in much more damaging way, as those same electrical signals can lead to interruptions in the Brain and Heart that leads to an increased risk of cardiac arrest and seizures for frequent or powerful Flux users.

Sequela

It seems that as a person with a Flux ages, and their heart and brain age, the risk of early and more frequent heart attacks and seizures drastically increases.

Affected Groups

Most commonly affects people living closers to the Reme extreme regions. Whether that be the giant desert to the east that sees the giant sparkling El'Atsa Storms, or the giant ice region to the west that hosts the giant Stormwight beasts that possess a Brilliance of their own. Maybe a gift from the gods to deals with these extreme conditions, or secret unknown experiments of past Remeans.

Prevention

Their is no known prevention to this disorder. Even those who lose their Flux through the Emanation process still can give it to their kin.

History

Probably existing since the rise of Brilliance itself, the Flux wasn't documented properly throughout much of history, as it was seen as more of a curse. Known as being "Storm Born", people born with a Flux were often seen as the outcasts of society and were nothing more than slaves people used to light their torches.
That was until the legendary Kingdom of Cilantraa. The powerful Cil'Kee family, noble family of the library of the Cilantraa, just so happen to have a daughter born with this very condition. Named Flucsa, this young girl would become the first case study of this disease and would be documented and stored at the largest library in Reme. After the Artisters (pre doctors of the age) Scribes had exhausted their studies of Flucsa, they realized their knowledge meant little as past studies they had of Brilliance throughout history were practically nonexistent. With Brilliance being much more of a religious matter, seeing it as a gift from the gods, scribes and clerks of the past were often unable to or unwilling to study Brilliance at all.
Following this realization, the Library of Cilantraa became the center of a new age of Brilliance-based studies, which lead to many modern Reme creations such as Talents, Capsules, Emanations, and Apertures (which itself relies heavily on Flux) more recently. Many more Scribes and Artisters joined in these studies, eventually forming the first Firsuto, or scientist/doctors. Many things that exist in modern Reme are thanks to this one moment in history as this also lead to the explosion of the Kingdom of Cilantraa, spread as far as they could to spread their technologies and knowledges across Reme.

Cultural Reception

Once seen as a curse, one born of the storms and Stormwight beasts that inhabit the fringes of the Reme extreme regions, it is now seen more on par with Brilliance itself. Though their is still some discrimination when it comes to Flux users.

Flucsa Cil'Kee: Regarded as the mother of Reme's modern enlightenment age. The studies done on her because of her Flux was probably the catalyst that lead to the Kingdom of Cilantraa's explosion of Brilliance research, and researchers as well.
The name for the disorder, simply meaning "Eternal Blue", garnered inspiration from Flucsa's name. Which simply means "Her Blues" in Cilant.
