2021/06/16: Cubit - Knowledge Is Part 1 Report

General Summary

Knight, Sith, Immori, Ba’alzamon, Keel, Dragoth   The party distributed treasure, then interrogated the cybernetically enhanced minion who surrendered. He and his crew are mercenaries that were hired by Necrosa for a very large sum of money and some excellent cybernetic enhancements. They were expendable and didn’t like Necrosa much, so they’re perfectly happy to be hired to help clean up the continent. The party asked them to… lose the body of their cleric, who was creepy and worshipped some former Old One.   Knight passed around his spyglass so the party could get warnings of upcoming potential dangers. They found that evidently, they were going to be fighting geometric shapes that shoot lasers. Other threats included a bellboy with no face in a 1950s hotel and a gigantic black hound pacing back and forth in a foggy warzone.   Arriving on Cubit, the party found themselves on a landing leading forward into the planet's surface, with countless more landings and constructions visible across the surface in all directions. Following the path, the party found a hub area with a rest room and seven odd doors: A plain door with “Knowledge is” on it in Times New Roman; a gold door with detailed scenes of celebrating people, with colorful words “Gambling For Your Life”; a slapdash bark and rope door, with “Self-sufficiency” carved into it; a light neon-colored metallic door with brilliant, well-lit letters saying “Song and Dance”; a 1940s Americana house door, painted to look fancier than a plain door should, with not-suspicious-at-all writing saying “New Life"; a darker wood door with smell of old newspaper, with simple letters saying “Mysteries Death”; and a simplistic wooden door with plain green block letters saying “Hunter of Dreams”.   The party debated their options. Few of them were interested in death-gambling, and all of them were concerned about the implications of "New Life". Knight was naturally interested in "Hunter of Dreams", both because of his relation to dreams and the interaction with that green dream messenger that warned them about Necrosa. Eventually, though, the party chose “Knowledge is”. That was one they could all recognize the benefit of.   Beyond the door, the party found themselves in a room with four semi-illusory mages, each focused on a single basic magical element. After several widespread magical blasts and some ineffectual stabbing, the party discovered that they had to hit the mages with their opposing elements while they tried to cast their spells. It took time and some improvised weapons, but they eventually succeeded. The mages dropped some minor loot, and the door to the next stage opened.
