Lichdom

The state of having been turned into a lich, voluntarily or otherwise. A lich is an immortal undead that can regenerate from its "phylactery", a magical item within which the lich's soul is stored. Outside of certain very powerful magics, the only way to destroy a lich for good is to destroy both the phylactery and lich's body.
As the process of becoming a lich typically involves the use of highly evil magical rituals, the vast majority of liches are powerful evil spellcasters.
