City of Detroit -- General Description

The city of Detroit is the capital of the Republic of Ionia, located on the western shore of the Virendian continent where the Detroit river meets the Ahlen Ocean. The city houses nearly 17,000 souls of various humanoid races, engaged in diverse industries. Detroit is famed for its shipbuilding, metalworks and mercantile trade. Detroit is a stop on the ocean trade route between the great cities on the west coast of the Arhas continent and the cities of eastern Jakkah.
The city is ruled by a council of elected officials and a mayor. The Department of Public Safety (DPS) employees almost 70 officers to keep order and prevent crime. The Detroit Night Watch has almost 160 guardsmen to patrol the walls and streets of the city.
