Notes on Social status in Detroit

Social status is an important factor in social interactions in Detroit.
The person with the higher social status is accustomed to be deferred to by the person with lesser social standing.

Determining who has the higher standing in a specific circumstance can be very dependent upon the circumstances.

Below are tables for the general status of individuals.

Some Definitions:

A Citizen is a person who pays taxes and is registered to vote. The check for this a voter registration card which the person gets from the Ward Alderman’s office by providing proof of residence and income. What form this proof takes depends upon the Alderman’s office, but usually involves three or more known citizens vouching for the unknown, and a zone of truth spell.

A Foreigner is a person who doesn’t have a voter registration card, and is considered a citizen of another nation.

A Refugee is a person who doesn’t have a voter registration card, and is not a citizen of another nation. Outside the city walls there are four refugee camps.

An Outlaw is a person who has had a ruling by a magistrate or judge setting them outside of the civil protections of the republic. The length of outlawry can be a set number of years, or when a certain condition is met (when the Rod of Agurth is returned to the temple), or for life. Outlaws do not vote and are usually destitute since they have no legal recourse to the confiscation of their property.
