Vecna the Whispered Name

Once the world's mightiest wizard with power great enough to tempt the gods, sought the help of Orcus, demon lord of Thanatos to cheat death and become imortal. Vecna became the first and greatest lich. While his body withered away, his evil empire grew. His evil temper caused his subjects to fear to speak his name aloud, fearing it would draw his attention. Vecna became known as the Whispered Name.

Legend says his once trusted lieutenant, Kas either lusting for the power of the Malachite Throne, or seduced by the evil sword, ended the rule of the Undying King. At the end of their battle, the entire city was a heap of smoldering ash.

However, rumor says Vecna was not destroyed utterly, one hand and one eye remain and still seek to work the Whispered Name's will in the world.
