Void Magic

Void Magic is a dangerous set of lore that some wizards believe exists outside of creation. Void Magic is anathema to existence itself and is extremely difficult to study and dangerous to learn. Only alien creatures from beyond The Far Realms whose psychology and physiology define mortal understanding seem capable of commanding Void Magic without risk of injury.

Void Magic is never added to a Wizard's spell book as one of the two free spells gained upon raising level.

Learning Void Magic tests the Wizard's Sanity.

To learn Void Magic, the Wizard must find another spellcaster willing to teach the spell, or discover it in a spell scroll, written in a spell book or perhaps carved on a wall of some obscene shrine.

Gestures & Ritual

Void Speech

Every Void spell has a verbal component in Void Speech and cannot under any circumstances be cast by someone who cannot speak it.
Uttering or Hearing a phrase in Void Speech for the first time is usually a test of Sanity.

Applied Restriction

Void Magic is not socially acceptable. Any use of Void Magic would be done in secret to avoid being reported to an authority figure, such as a high priest or sheriff.
