Nature’s End

Somewhere in the forest a great axe is embedded in a great oak tree. Once wielded by the barbarian Dermouth, Nature’s End’s final act was felling the goddess of Nature herself, Khanna. Dermouth never intended to kill the Lady of the Forest, but was consumed by his rage towards the war on the pantheon that caused his wife and son to die. When Khanna tried to gain an audience with the grieving man, he was tempted by the Lord of Lies, Fermonte, to kill the goddess, promising the return of his family. In actuality, he only used Dermouth in order to help cull those that would stop him from taking the throne of the Overgod, Khanna included.   When Dermouth’s mind cleared, he threw the bloodied axe into a nearby tree and grieved for a full moon’s cycle. Once he realized that he was tricked, and his family wasn’t coming back, his sorrow, along with the goddess’ death, poisoned the surrounding wood, the axe becoming the medium of all the grief.
