Rethium Economic Expansion Center (R.E.E.D) Tower

The tallest freestanding structure in the capital city of Highwire, located just a few miles from the geographical center of the country of Aswary.
The tower stands at just over nineteen-hundred feet tall, a total of one-hundred and eighty stories over the concrete and steel skeletons of the hundreds of skyscrapers and towers that stood around it through the hundreds of streets and alleys that made up the massive city near the center of the country. The R.E.E.D Center tower is the hub and absolute center of the country and the capital city, where it's economic, geographical and constructive deeds and activities all take place in the hundreds of floors that make up the intricately-built and sophisticated tower.
It remains the tallest building in Highwire to date.
constructed over a span of ten years, the project was stalled for at least eight months during a period of economic slip in the country when it experienced a sudden rise in cost for materials and their importing to foreign countries from around the continent which was the result of a law put into place by the king of Opron in the Fourth Age, the then-ailing king Theophilus Zebulon-Channel IV. The construction began in the year 503 of the Fourth Age, twenty years after Highwire became the capital of the country of Aswary and around four-hundred-fifty years after Highwire was first founded in Aswary, to curiosity and excitement from the city's inhabitants upon hearing of the new project that would truly put their city on the Rethium continent map.
It serves as the council seat for the mayor of Highwire and her advisory board for the different fronts and goings-on in the city, and it also serves as the headquarters for some twenty-five major companies that make their living and time in the massive capital city. The office of the mayor resides on the upper floors of the building, around the hundred-and-seventy-fifth floor, above which sit her private apartment as well as others belonging to board and family members who live in the tower.  The tower was attacked a total of five times in it's history, only two of which were successful in causing a reconstruction period for several months in order to repair damages to the building.
R.E.E.D Center is constructed in a style that resembles the Zen Architecture format of modern-day Japan, and is decorated with colorful markings and bands as well as ornate signs and figures depicting all sorts of information on screens and lit-up signs that can be seen for miles around the city, thanks to the dominating height and display of the massive central tower. A total of fifty-thousand workers were hired and given the responsibility of constructing the tower at any given time for the ten year period, over two-hundred of which died during the project from many types of injuries, including unfortunate slips and falls from extreme heights due to poor working conditions or even more inclement weather conditions during the construction of the tower.
The foundations of the R.E.E.D Center tower delve just over two-hundred feet deep and are made up of a mixture of heavy steel beams and reinforced concrete, and somewhere in the midsection of the tower around the ninetieth or hundredth floor is a large open space inside of which rests a series of flexible beams and free-hanging mechanisms which were placed in order to help support the upper floors of the tower to prevent it from swinging or bending dangerously in high winds during rainy periods throughout the year. To date, the tower is the second-most technological project ever undertaken in the city, second only to the suspended rail network which winds and twists and turns through the skyline at sometimes dizzying heights to provide access to important locales and businesses which are located on the upper floors of many of the towering structures around the city. They replaced the underground network which was soon blocked off and used by the homeless and several gangs and unknown factions as their personal territory where none of the surface dwellers dared venture, and soon afterwards those gangs took total control of the underground, banning anyone and everyone from entering unless they were a part of any of the factions or gangs who lived there.
Also to date, only one person has ever fallen from the top floor of the building to their death following a purposefully-made journey to the top floor from the ground. A convict had escaped from a prison somewhere in Opron several months earlier and had reached the capital city only to be targeted by law enforcement officers and chased to the roof. He proclaimed his innocence for his alleged crimes before jumping from the roof of the tower and landing on the ground just beyond the main entrance. He died instantly upon impact and his body was returned to Opron, where it was buried and given a marked grave near the family's home.
A large flagpole currently flies above the roof. One flag depicts the insignia of Aswary, a Cottonback Ceta surrounded by a sea-blue circle with a thin golden rim around both the animal figure and the circle in which it sits. The surrounding design mimics the white caps of waves on a rough ocean which gives the appearance of flowing while raised into the blowing wind, a strange and mentally pleasing effect to the eye of whoever happens to see it. The other flag is that of Rethium, which sits above the Aswary flag on the pole and is always left flying.
