Venomvine

The elusive and deadly Venomvine.   One of the rarest animals on the planet.   But potent enough to kill ten grown men in under fifteen minutes.   The Venomvine can only be found in the forests and jungles of Pagrad, where the trees are tangled, thick and their branches gnarled and nasty, able to choke the air thin with a maze of leaves, vines and other dangers that could kill a man if he were to step too far off the beaten path.   It is also known by other names. Treeveni, Treven, Treveni, and even the more common name, Vinesnake. Whichever title the public knows it by, they are all talking about the same elusive and deadly beast that lives in the depths of the jungles and forests of the most lush and lively country on the continent.    The Venomvine can grow up to fifteen feet tall from the branches of the trees in which they live, and they can sometimes grow even longer, to a record thirty feet or more by tangling themselves through countless branches in their home trees, and there can be up to five to ten Venomvines in a single tree, as long as they are able to hide themselves well enough to be confused for simple vines and other similar growths by an unsuspecting passerby. They have no eyes, no other means of locomotion save for their writhing and sliding through leaves and branches, and have a cartilaginous skeletal structure that allows them to bend and loop and twist at almost unnatural angles without hurting themselves. They are extremely carnivorous and will attack anything that moves, and can disguise that attacking bite as a simple swing of the vine, especially if an unknowing prey swats them aside when moving through or underneath them, which is often the movement that the Venomvine hopes for in their prey.    When a Venomvine is born, it is not uncommon to find them coiled on the ground below their parent, as they are expelled from the mother through her esophagus and out of her mouth. A single parent can give birth to up to three Venomvine, although the more she births, the more likely she is to kill herself in the process and to fall from the tree where she was hanging. This death does come with motherhood and is seemingly expected around the time that they give birth, meaning simply that death is expected of the mother depending on how many young she gives birth to. A newborn Venomvine is called a Seedling, while any group of these creatures is known as a Garden.    The longest known Venomvine ever recorded reached a length of forty-three feet, and this same Venomvine was credited with the death of five Karasu tribal members within the same one-day period, plus the disappearance of a whole subspecies of bird who were considered endangered before being eaten away by the Venomvine, with no pun intended. They feast on anything they can find, from birds to rodents, snakes to lizards and even the occasional Human or member of another race, although the Venomvine is able to hide the bodies through an unknown process after killing them, saving them for later in case of a sudden drop in other types of prey.   The only way to kill a Venomvine is to completely remove their tree, or to cut them from the branch directly where they latch onto it. This does cut the veins of the Venomvine from the tree itself and is a painful process for the animal, but it is necessary in order to kill them properly. To kill a newborn Venomvine to prevent them from growing, they must be chopped into segments and scattered, as they are known to reconnect with their separated parts and regrow if not disposed of properly. Their venom is extremely potent, but it is illegal to harvest it and use it for any means, even medicinal. Avoid this animal at all costs, and if you get bitten, hope to the gods that someone nearby has the antivenom to give you a chance at life, as unfortunately slim as that chance may be.
