Session XVII Power of Fire

General Summary

As the sun rises upon the city of Imperias, some of our adventurers find them selves in the inn eating breakfast on there planned last day in the city. While conversing however, a familiar elven figure walks into the in. Persivis approaches, claiming he has information they might be interested in. A number of figures have been arriving at the city. Mainly a group of hunters from Jelkelen forest who have reported the death of Valen Salvolg, and claiming he was murdered by there group. In addition he told Laufter that Quinterra should keep an eye out for "old friends". After this, he also told them about a growing development in the ruins of Betor; hinting that they should go investigate. With that, he took his leave whishing them the best.
Further into the day, Arethyn went to fight in the tournament for 1000gp. As the crowd cheered up above, Arethyn walked around to all her fellow combatants and had them draw a playing card to test there luck. Most drew poorly, but her and another drew quite well... The gates lift up, as 8 warriors enter the arena. Thousands have gathered to watch there contest, including some high government members... The battle begins. Many fall within the first number of seconds. The strongest four then begin to duel it out. Arethyn attempts to abstain from combat as much as possible, letting the others weaken eachother. This somewhat works as Arethyn takes a few blows, but nothing deadly. One goes down, and then another. Arethyn and one other stand as they face eachother in the center. As he charged Arethyn prepares. They exchange blows, both barely standing. In the thick of it Arethyn lands a finishing blow... and is the last one standing. The crowd cheers, and Arethyn is little bit richer. As she exits, she locks eyes with a particularly white scaled tiefling, before leaving the arena.
After a little shopping, the party all gathers and heads to the Mystical Sea Inn. As they walk inside they grab a nice table far away from the performance stage. Many of the members are unaware as to why Laufter has brought them here. As Laufter plans his attack, Nayr finds an interest in Chris, a large Chuul contained within the Inn. Not liking how it is caged, Nayr casts Water Walk on the Chuul. This in turn forces it into the glass, cracking and breaking it free of its constraint. As this happens, the large Shrimp begins to attack Nayr. As the crowd begins to flee, those who at work at the inn begin to try and calm the situation. However, using illusion Laufter uses Orifice to summon a Barlgura to aid in the destruction. The inn begins to get smashed and pummeled by the demon. The inn is now in chaos. Some of the party begins to flee, while others stay and fight. Arethyn helps Nayr out of the Chuul's claws, and then heads for the demon unaware of what is happening. Eventually Laufter and others start flinging fire balls into the inn, setting it ablaze. However, from outside Soren has set up the final step. Notched in the corner is a large keg of gunpowder. As he runs into the nearby alley ways he finds the perfect angle, and shoots a fireball into the keg. A powerful explosion followed, obliterating a third of the inn and sending it flying into the air. The inn now is beginning to collapse. The remaining survivors flee outside. As the party stands outside, all that can be seen is the light emerging from the growing flame in the middle of the city. Laufter can feel "his" satisfaction with his performance. However, now approaching from all angles are a mass of Elezian Guards. Most of the Party stuck in the middle of there path.
During all of this commotion, Soren has been casting sending to a certain white scaled tiefling from earlier. Claiming that he and his companions are coming for him, and that he resides within the Nine Hells...
