Meridium
Meridium is a metal created from Meridium ore, which is used to create supremely strong, yet quite light, weapons, tools, and armor.
Properties
Material Characteristics
Meridium ore looks like smooth, solid grey-brown, stone. White Meridium is a pearlescent milky white metal that is very strong and light but neither malleable nor brittle. Black Meridium takes on the appearance of smooth obsidian and is lighter and stronger than White Meridium. When Black Meridium is struck with force, the location of impact will glow with the color of the dragon that created it.
Geology & Geography
Mostly found deep within the Divines and the mountians of Roxroyal island.
Origin & Source
Meridium Ore
History & Usage
History
Until 3136 H.A. Meridium ore was viewed as useless and was either discarded or used to make terribly ugly jewelry and trinkets. After the rediscovery of the refinement process in 3136 H.A. Meridium Ore became extremely valuable and little by little Meridium itself began to arrive in Stellron.
Discovery
Meridium was first discovered by the dwarf wizard/alchemist, Habor, during the time of the Second Elvish Empire and the Great Sickness. Harbor had a laboratory deep within the Divines where he discovered the processes necessary to create White and Black Meridium. Harbor kept most of his discoveries to himself which is why few took much notice when his laboratory was lost during a serious earthquake in 2536 O.A. The secret of Meridium ore was not redicovered until Harbor's Laboratory was found mostly intact by Star Stone miners in 3136 H.A.
Everyday use
Weapons, tools, and in extremely rare cases, armor.
Refinement
Meridium is a highly valuable metal for many reasons. The main one being the difficulty of refining it.
To turn Meridium ore into White Meridium one must first cover the ore in ogre's dung and let it dry. The dung covered ore must be drenched in the blood of a Winter Wolf and coated in molten silver. It must then be placed in a container filled with water from the Glacial Sea and carried to a mountain where it must sit in at least 5 year old snow for 3 days. Lastly the mixture must be dragged through deep lava, after which the ore will have taken a pearlescent white appearance. This can then be shaped by a skilled blacksmith. The twist is that for every thousand grams of ore only five-hundred grams of White Meridium is created and two thousand is needed to create a longsword.
Black Meridium is far more valuable, rare, and difficult to refine than White Meridium. A paste concocted of crushed Star Stone and Spider Bee honey needs to be layered upon every surface of Divine Meridium ore. After pouring panther's blood over this ore, it is necessary to dip it in molten gold before submerging it in the Sujet Tar Pits for 5 days. After this endevor, black Crystal Sand from the Isles of Alistod should be rubbed into the tar remaining on the surface of the ore. The last step requires that the ore endure the breath weapon of a dragon, after which it will become a deep, midnight black taking on an appearance similar to obsidian.

Distribution
Trade & Market
Meridium ore is so difficult to find that most do not bother trying to mine for it. Those looking to make money off of material under the ground will mine for more common minerals and metals. This means that Meridium ore let alone Meridium itself is nigh impossible to find being sold anywhere in Stellron.
