Umberlee Waters
The Umberlee Waters are waters surrounding The Umberlee Isles, the archipelago controlled by pirates. They are known to be dangerous and sailors voyaging during storms in the waters are likely to be found dead on shore in the upcoming few days. This is why the islands and the waters are named after Umberlee - The Bitch Queen - known for her evil nature of sinking ships and sending storms with large waves just for fun.
It is rumoured that on certain nights, entire pirate ships that had sunk with all their crew and captain come back above water as spectral undead vessels with the goal to take out vengeance on all those who are still living. It's said that if these ghostly pirates defeat a living pirate crew with none escaping or surviving and if they are able to seize their ship, they can take over the bodies of the living and come back to the mainland with new lives. These lives are much different and more cursed. Firstly, their appearance might become more fishlike, they might grow fins and tails, and gills and scales, their arms might grow into tentacles and other such deformities might occur. Secondly, you are cursed to a life at sea and so is your entire crew. You can't have a peaceful retirement after coming back as the sea pulls on you as it does any pirate or sailor, only that - tenfold. And finally, your mind has been corrupted as it has a portion of the old you before you died, it contains a portion of the undead spectral ghost you, and it also holds a fragment of the individual's mind whose body you've taken over. All that plus the madness of the sea together means your mind has turned into a wild soup of crazy.

Geography
The Umberlee Waters are all of the open waters surrounding The Umberlee Isles, to the West of Elgidth.
Ecosystem
As it is a part of the Rodian Ocean the water is saltwater housing saltwater dwelling beasts and fish. Monsters of course also exist in the waters ranging from large leviathan to a bone crab looking for its next prey on the shore. There are multiple small islands and underwater civilizations which are fully controlled by monsters including more exotic ones like Water Elementals.
Localized Phenomena
It is a known fact that the Umberlee waters are much stormier, chaotic and with much larger waves than elsewhere, all thanks to the caring incredibly malicious goddess Umberlee.
