Leprechaun

Leprechaun

Though the myths surrounding these small feyfolk tend to suggest they are tricksters and jokers, this couldn't be further from the truth. Considered the elite assassins of the courts of the Fae, they are a mission focused people and you will never find a Leprechaun in the Fae not pledged to a court. Very few Leprechaun were trapped on the Material Plane when I'Awarthod occured, but those that were found themselves aimless. With no court to dictate their day to day or to give them missions or goals they found themselves a people displaced, perhaps even more than their Elven cousins. Even today, to meet a Leprechaun is considered by many to be an ill omen, and rarely are they welcomed or well treated, particularly in smaller more superstitious villages.   Quite a sight to behold, with their lithe bodies, pale greenish skin, long thin fingers, brightly colored hair and pitch black eyes, the Leprechaun stand out among a crowd.

Traits

Age: A Leprechaun reaches adulthood at the age of 16 and though once could live well into their 3rd century, those living in the Material Plane now tend to reach only into their 150's.   Size: Halflings average about 3 feet tall and weigh about 40 pounds. Your size is Small.   Speed: Your movement speed is 30 ft.   Darkvision: You have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.   Unflinching: You have advantage on saving throws against being frightened.   Natural Illusionist: You know the minor illusion cantrip. Intelligence is your spellcasting ability for it.   Speak with Small Beasts: Through sounds and gestures, you can communicate simple ideas with Small or smaller beasts. Forest gnomes love animals and often keep squirrels, badgers, rabbits, moles, woodpeckers, and other creatures as beloved pets.   The Hoard: Somewhere beyond the reaches of the known planes rests a Leprechauns Hoard. Unless in a zone where planar travel or magic in it's totality is nullified a Leprechaun may reach into the interdimensional pocket that they always have access to and retrieve any item previously placed there. You may store up to 500 pounds worth of nonperishable objects in your hoard at any given time, but must have total and complete ownership over said object at the time of deposit (you cannot store magical objects attuned to others in this dimension). If a Bag of Holding is placed inside of this dimensional pocket it is destroyed and it opens a gateway to this mysterious hoard plane, any creature or object within ten feet is sucked into the gate, including the leprechaun. The gate is one way and cannot be reopened from the other side.   Trance: Leprechaun don't need to sleep. Instead, they meditate deeply, remaining semiconscious, for 4 hours a day. (The Common word for such meditation is "trance.") While meditating, you can dream after a fashion; such dreams are actually mental exercises that have become reflexive through years of practice. After resting in this way, you gain the same benefit that a human does from 8 hours of sleep.   Languages: You can speak, read, and write Common, Sylvan and Elhien.
