Myth of Creation

In the beginning, there existed two beings, Order and Chaos, each a counter balance to the other. Turbulent Chaos, unsatisfied with the indefinite state of the never-ending conflict with Order, conjured 9 beings into existence to help tip the scales in their favour. The being that Chaos created first was Light, whose very birth created the planes of reality. Chaos moulded Light into stars and the stars become worlds and so Nature and Tempest came to be. From their union, Life was born, who with soil and air, fashioned the Undying, the first inhabitants of the material plane. Knowledge and Arcana, the next of Chaos' offspring, were then offered to the Undying. The Undying, for a time, made good use of the gift they had been given, forging a grand civilisation and building monumental structures in Chaos' name. Soon though, the Undying began to seek more, and from their desire sprung War and Trickery, who whispered in mortal ears, inspiring hatred and jealously, as was their nature. 
Until this point, Order had paid Chaos no heed, for the Undying's complete mastery of the mortal realm had delighted them. However, due to their power, and because the Undying did not know fear, when the Undying turned on each other, just as Chaos had planned, they nearly ripped existence apart. Order was forced to intervene, and in order to strip Chaos of their power and rebalance the scales, Order created Death. Death bound the other deities to their service and then, for a brief moment, the Undying knew fear. In an instance, the Undying were reduced to nothing, their civilizations lay in ruin and only their black-stoned structures remained. In time, Life constructed new beings to populate the material plane, but this time Death was present to make sure that none could ever gain the power to threaten reality again.
