Session Report - Chapter 1: The Bandit's of Ravenwood Fort

General Summary

Our story begins with Thyra Ironsmith, freeing her future compatriots, Mathias Anderson and Nia Flint, from a makeshift jail in the village of Lockwood. Thyra had stolen pardons from her father, Lord Titus Ironsmith, and recruited the pair to help her investigate bandit activity at Ravenwood Fort.
  After gathering information from the healer Molly of Lockwood and blacksmith Benfold of Lockwood, the party decided to attack the fort rather than infiltrate it. They successfully assaulted the guards on duty, but alerted the bandits inside. After defeating some more bandits who had stayed behind to slow the party down, they reached the dining hall and discovered the rest of the bandits had fled.
  The party gave chase and caught up with the bandit's leader Grommash. During the chase, Thyra found a letter from a mysterious figure called the 'Baron', who had recruited Grommash to help them find an artefact supposedly somewhere in the area.
  Returning to the fort, the party forced Grommash to write a letter to the Baron hoping to lure them out to be captured. Grommash did as she was told, but then tried to escape and was killed by Matthias.
  Before her death, Grommash hinted at the location of a bandit's stash to the party, who were able to track it down and disarm the trap protecting it. They recovered a large amount of treasure, including a map detailing the scope of the bandit's activities.
  After returning to Lockwood and delivering the location of the remaining treasure in the bandit stash to Benfold, the party travelled to Oakholm to meet with Thyra's father. Lord Ironsmith was grateful but worried about the events that had transpired, ordering his spymaster to look into the Baron in more detail. For their efforts, the party was rewarded with gold and a pardon for any historic perceived crimes committed by Nia and Matthias against the realm.
  Overall, the party had a successful mission, uncovering valuable information and recovering the treasure stolen by the bandits.

Rewards Granted

Grommash's battle-axe: +1 to hit, +1 to damage - A masterfully crafted weapon, with a sharp, gleaming steel blade and a sturdy wooden handle wrapped in worn leather for a secure grip. The name "Grommash" is etched into the handle in bold, jagged letters, giving the weapon an intimidating and distinctive appearance. The axe head is double-bladed and heavy, with wicked-looking spikes jutting out from the top of the blade, making it a deadly instrument in the hands of a skilled warrior. Despite its menacing appearance, the axe is well-balanced and easy to wield, making it a formidable weapon in the right hands.   Bandit Stash   The players found the following items within the bandit stash that they picked up easily:
  • 1900 CP
  • 1200 SP
  • 20 GP
  • 4 x 25 GP art objects – all four of these art objects originate from Matthias' homeland of Avaloren – he claimed these and hid them away in a secret room at the Ravenwood Fort.
  • There was an additional treasure worth approximately 2000 GP – this was too heavy to carry. Benfold of Lockwood was given detailed written instructions by Thyra, disclosing the location of the remaining treasure, which the party gifted to the villagers as reparations for the hardship imposed on them by the bandits.
