When the Cataclysm occurred, ancestors of the elves hid themselves in the Blistering Expanse. Thousands of years surviving
in this harsh environment has transformed the elves into dangerous desert hunters. Elven craftsmen make beautiful (and
deadly) blades as well as some of the finest chain armour available. The elven oases are also renowned for their coffee, spices,
and fruits.
Culture
Most elves live a nomadic lifestyle, avoiding the worst of the Blistering
Expanse while ferreting out its hidden bounties. Favoured resources must be
mobile and so horses, camels, and sheep are all common sights in most elven
tribes. To survive in this harsh environment, elves must be able to count on
their kinsmen and honour is an elf’s greatest possession. Each tribe has well
defined territories, and tribal chiefs meet regularly to negotiate marriages,
alliances and settle disputes. When not travelling, elves love both song and
dance and many incorporate their graceful movements into other aspects of
their lives.
Relations
Elves respect, and even admire, both of their closest neighbours. While
orocs are more unpredictable than elves would like, they do not deny the
similarities between their cultures. Despite the softness the Edari have
developed in their island kingdoms, elves appreciate the beauty and
knowledge common to their eastern neighbours. Elves enjoy the serious
nature of dwarves but find gnomes loud and abrasive. The discipline
exhibited by many humans is respected as is the halfling symbiosis with
their forest environment.
