Elves
Seemingly immortal and with an ethereal beauty that is not seen in most other races. Elves tend to be of lithe build, and generally have more of an affinity with magic and the nature of the world.
There are three subspecies of elves that may be encountered in the world.
Wood elves; the more prevalent race. They have a closer connection to the wilderness and are fleet of foot. They had adapted to living in the wilds, and are very perceptive and intuitive. They tend towards a ruddier or bronzed complexion, with hair colours ranging from brown, flaxen, or auburn. Sometimes you may even get wood elves with green hair, to blend in with the foliage.
High elves; Generally make up the elven nobility. They have adapted to be able to harness more magical potential and have a intuitive knowledge of many things. Due to the close connection to magic, they generally have at least a small magical feat they can perform, even if they choose not to pursue their talents further. Their complexion is usually fair coloured and flawless, with hair colour that ranges from raven black, platinum blonde, golden yellow, or fantastic colours befitting a race so infused with mana.
Dark elves; aptly named for their charcoal coloured skin. Dark elves have adapted to living in near or complete darkness. After the elves were pushed to the desolate plains west of the Eldgam Mountains, they decided to seek refuge inside the mountains themselves. They have also retained their strong affinity with magic, and are very cunning and persuasive individuals. Also, due to their adapted life in the dark, they have a sensitivity to the sunlight or any other source of bright light. Their complexion ranges from obsidian black, to a pale lilac, and their hair generally takes on shades of white or silver. Many, including their fellow elves thought the dark elves were evil due to the prominence of having red eyes, and it giving them a fiendish appearance coupled with the black skin. However, this is a falsity, and it is one that they are happy to prove wrong.
Interracial Relations
Humans: Seen as nothing less than petulant children. They are short-lived, selfish, and terribly ambitious creatures. Despite this, some elves give them a begrudging respect of the way they ardently live their short lives.
Dwarves: More often than not, they have a more friendly rivalry with them. However, that is not to say this rivalry isn't taken too far on some occasions. Dwarves are often seen as much too brash and arrogant, but they take care not to directly insult dwarves, as they tend to hold grudges far too well.
Halflings: Adorable, entertaining little beings. Elves are quite fond of the wee folk, as they have an affinity with the land as well, and are generally just good-natured. They respect their simple and honest way of life.
Orcs: Pitied and despised. There are stories that orcs were once a nomadic elven tribe, but were corrupted by the spilled blood of Yewgeroth. The anger and primal ferocity that is held within orcs is often a cause of concern for most elves.
Bestials: Seen as unique and made in a similar image to the primal god, Borelis. They see them in a neutral light, and respect them individually.
Dragonborn: Seen as powerful and blessed beings. Elves have a great respect for dragons, as they were the original rulers of the lands. Dragonborn are often spoken of with high praised amongst elven communities. They respect their sense of honour, and treat them as equals.
Aasimar: Seen in a neutral light, although often spoken kindly of. Elves consider them to be related to the gods of the world, and thus are sent for a specific purpose on this world.
Gnomes: Funny little tinkerers. Elves enjoy the good-natured prickliness of gnomes, are are quite intrigued by the contraptions or ideas they often invent.
Tieflings: Seen with both pity and suspicion. All know how a tiefling comes about, and most would be hesitant to stick around a family who had proof of making a deal with a devil. That being said, due to their experiences with being ostracized, they try and give tieflings the benefit of the doubt and to prove their good of character.
