The Pale Burn

The Pale Burn, previously known as Bristle Canyon, is a large swath of dangerous territory devoid of memories in Imagma. Members of the Rotheart Division are commonly found here, spreading their influence in the edges of the Pale, growing their territory slowly. The Pale is the primary residence of Seeq the Blaze, believed to be the first Rotheart.   While the Pale Burn is a ghostly shadow of Bristle Canyon, scholars have long debated as to the original location it was based on. As all places in Imagma start from somewhere on Rine, surely there should be somewhere on the material plane that resembles that original landscape. Due to the heavy influence of the Rotheart, studies and attempts to map or properly define the edges of what is truly part of the original Bristle Canyon versus what has been warped and corroded by the subsequent Burn, progress in these revelations have come to a standstill.   Considering how long The Pale Burn has been in existence in Imagma, some scholars posit that there no longer is enough of the original canyon left to accurately complete their research on the subject, while others have taken to petitioning Webber’s Guild for assistance in stabilizing the region, to mixed success.

Geography

What remains of Bristle Canyon is quite easy to see the resemblance to the name; It appears to have been a riverbed long, long ago, and it is generally accepted that it had long been dry and rocky by the time it emerged into Imagma's psuedoscape. The stone appears similiar to striated sandstone with beautiful marbeling and organically carved arches, while the minimal plantlife is scrub-like and hardy. Due to this, it is suggested that Bristle Canyon once was part of the northwestern corner of Zanskar.   Everything else in the canyon has been affected by the Burn, which appears like a white scar that drains all color and life from both the land and sky. The ground underfoot becomes unsteady the further into the Burn one walks, and formations are prone to crumbling or earthquakes, making traversing the Burn a tenuous affair without a guide.

Ecosystem

Plant and animal life still stubbornly retains its hold in the region, having adapted in similar ways to thrive in this new, dangerous environment. Some travelers report massive beasts disguising themselves as safe patches of land to walk and rest on, only for jaws to snap up any unfortunate to spring the traps. Others swear they've seen plants up and walk away when the the ground crumbles beneath them, or for vines to ensnare everything within their reach to maintain a foothold, whether it be people or rocks and dirt.

Climate

The Burn's air is impossibly dry, with a weird tingle like spice in the back of the throat. It occasionally has a monsoon season which often floods and demolishes many structures (both manmade or natural) within the water's path in a way that has completely rearranged the Burn on more than one occasion.
