Luneburg

The largest city in Balveda, though not its capital, Luneburg is home to nearly sixty-thousand souls. With its excellent location on the Inner Sea, proximity to the Temple of the Heart, and verdant farmland outside the walls, Luneburg is a major destination for both domestic and foreign commerce as well as tourism. The Luneburg institute is located here, the largest public magical university in the World. Its three-thousand students study a broad array of subjects, guided by some of the most brilliant professors and theorists working today. Its campus makes up much of the central city, and the attached museum and botanical gardens are free to all visitors. Visit the old town if you're in Luneburg, the tan brick buildings and narrow cobble streets transport you back to an older time.

Points of interest

  • Luneburg Institute: The premiere center of magical learning, the Luneburg Institute is a grand old university that encompasses much of central Luneburg. This prestigious school holds the title of the largest and most exhaustive home of magical studies, as well as a wide variety of other learning. Those seeking to study history, magic, philosophy, myths and legends, geography, enchanting, zoology, herbology, alchemy, linguistics, archeology, or astronomy will easily find courses and professors to guide their inquisitive minds. The botanical gardens are on the southern end of the campus, and is open every season but winter to visitors. The Museum of World History is attached to the archeology building in the Institute's heart, and sprawls across three floors. Its rooms contain artifacts such as fragmentary tools from early sapience, great works of art and sculpture, fossil beasts, magical artifacts, and a copy of the original Law of Speech. Both are free to visitors, but a donation to the Institute is strongly encouraged.
  • Old Luneburg: The original city of Luneburg, some parts dating back to a time Before Law, this neighborhood is known for its narrow cobble streets and tightly constructed brick buildings. Much of this original city was inhabited by smaller species, making it a little tight for visiting minotuar or ursinin. Much of the neighborhood isn't home to full time residents anymore, instead shops and inns have filled up the old buildings and turned much of it into a destination for tourists. The old world charm is still present however, and it's worth pushing through the crowds to see.
