Magic
Magic is the lifeblood of The God that has flowed into the World since the Fallen Heart landed in the ocean. The Heart, ever beating, pumps magic endlessly into the World, flowing down the sides of the peak it rests upon and into the seas. The waters and lands closest to the Heart have more innate magic due to this, and the father away you get from the center, the less concentrated the magic there is.
Magic itself is a liquid: more viscous and of thicker consistency than water, but able to dilute into it easily. On its own, it has a teal color and glows softly, putting out no more light than a flickering candle might. To the touch it feels warm, and waters that magic has mixed into are warmer than their magic-less counterparts. It's for these reasons that the Singing Sea shines dimly at night and is always so warm, and that the Silent Sea is so very dark and cold.
Those who utilize the magic in their blood to cast great spells like wizards or concoct potions like alchemists, are drawing upon their own natural well of vitality to do so. One must replenish their magical reserves through eating and drinking, as well as plenty of rest, lest they find themselves exhausted and ill.
All life upon the face of the World has been touched by magic in some way. Some scholars argue that without magic, life itself is impossible. Some claim that life would've occurred on its own, but the magic has allowed it to grow into forms that never would've been possible otherwise. Whatever the reality of the matter, none can deny that life has benefited from magic in demonstrative ways.
As the water, soil, and rains all contain trace magic, so does anything that grows in it or drinks from it. All plant life has magic flowing through its roots, all animals have magic in their blood.
