The Bright King

Progenitor of Life and the Spheres

The Bright King or as he is sometimes called The Shattered Prince, is the progenitor of humanoid life in Ripple.
Little is known about the Bright King's origins. Some say that he is the creator of the the Shattered Sea, and then chose to populate it once the physical world was created. Others say that the Bright King is a foreign entity and that he merely arrived at the Shattered Sea and saw a place to place his children. Regardless of from where or how the Bright King arrived in the Shattered Sea all humanoid species are believed to have come from the Bright King, be it humans, elves or dwarves.
Legend states that that in order to populate the Shattered Sea the Bright King split his being into three. First, his flesh he carved off in great chunks, and fashioned into the shapes of the Bathyspheres upon which he scattered through the sea. In order to prevent the spheres from drifting into danger the Bright King fashioned tethers, large chains made from his entrails and other viscera that hardened into metal like the spheres did. The first bathysphere he created was called Hallow and would designated as the holy center of the land. Then, in the moments before the final bathysphere was fashioned, he split his remaining being into two.
As his blood saturated the salty ocean water he formed it into pure energy, and housed it once again inside his flesh now turned bathysphere. The form that his blood took became fire and lightning, and the fusion of these two elements became know as Pulse, the Sustainer, the manifestation of fire, electricity and life. His consciousness he shaped and reformed into Lumen, the Lord of Light, the ruler of warmth and light. He created Pulse to tend to the bathyspheres and Lumen to tend to their inhabitants. After separating his flesh, blood and mind into three, the being known as the Bright Lord ceased to exist. His essence lives on in the spheres that surround us, the fire that cooks out food and keeps us warm, and the light that protects us from the cold, dark unknown of the ocean depths. In honor of the Bright King's sacrifice the world we reside in became known as Ripple, and the sea we float in as The Shattered Sea.
No one knows what the Bright King looked like before they split themselves, and to guess or assume would sully their being. As such, the Bright King is never depicted with defining features past a humanoid figure; something which Lumen has inherited. The symbol of the Bright King is a starburst design featuring a metal sphere in the center. The metal sphere represents the Bathyspheres, the faint red lines the Chains, and the light rays and star pattern Lumen and Pulse.
