Marsh Encounter

General Summary

During tonight's game session the group finished up in Ilsurian and then board the driftwood to continue their return to Magnimar and Sandpoint.    In Ilsurian most of the group was on board at the start of the night, however Burok had left the group and Tetsuo went to go find him, heading to the arena to look first. Upon finding him surrounded by some of the young students, specifically a teenaged boy and girl who were excited by his discussion about the crusades and mentioned they may go join when they finish their training in a few years. Some were as excited as they were distracted by the sudden appearance of Burok's griffon.    Tetsuo and Burok returned to The Locked Box for Burok to get a better understanding of the damages and the way that Tetsuo was working to make it right, along with Krow (sp?). Krow offered over his sword, the Impaler of Thorns as a hold until the full debt could be repaid and he was free to go.  However he also learned the group made off with an extra magic item compared to what they came for - not evening paying for that one either. Mostly satisficed with the follow up the two of them headed for the ship to join the rest of the party.    Burok said a condition of his forgiveness and understanding of the situation at the store was that the rest of his companions join him weekly for church services. While some objected to this at first most came around.    Shortly after they boarded Ameiko said goodbye to the other women who had been traveling with you since you last left Ilsurian, Aria and Rokka, and boarded as well as the last of the passengers to do so. Aria reminded her to pass along a letter to Shalelu. A mostly uneventful night passed with rain starting near dinner time and lasting through the night.    The morning passed with more rain, Cemma and Perran found some games and kept the children busy in the mess hall during the rain. Above deck the goup got soaking wet as they watched the trip go by. However it started to lighten up just before lunch, near the base of the Sanos Forest, close to Wartle but it didn't stay that way for long.
Sudden onslaught of the fog and it's thickness it was made Tetsuo suspicious and he determined it was of magical origin. Eensor Selor and Uster Battletongue both began preparing themselves and began worrying and mumbling "not again." While the other crew either manned the ballistics, secured items and passengers or worked to get the ship back on course as it had strayed to far to the marsh side of the river - none really knowing what what happening.    The party prepared for battle - pulling out weapons, downing potions, summoning things (water elemental and saxophone) or in Burok's case, calling Dorius and flying up to get a better view, and determining this large animal is evil. With this he was able to see two different creatures, who were later identified as a Boggard (frog like humaniod) and a huge sized purple toad like thing with wings called a Mobogo. Smoppy was also able to tell the group that the Mobogo can regenerate health and croak every 30 or so seconds.    The fog dissipated after a few rounds, helped along by both the wind and slight rain and Vindu's ray of frost's. This allowed two of the boggards to climb onto the ships deck without being easily noticed.    The Mobogo let out a load croak left nearly everyone staggered for one round. Smoppy paused his playing to try to intimidate one of these smaller creatures, quite successfully, and the creature soon dove back into the water. Eensor jumped into action a short time after the others - after scanning the area with her trident, yelling at the last boggard on the boat to "get off my ship" she lands a strong hit but let's Koolaid's fire breath kill it, while the bodies of the other two were spinning around in the whirlpool of the water elemental.    Chitman and Therpha worked the balistics on that side of the ship both landing hits against the Mobogo, despite her freaking out, thinking this creature was just a legend. The huge purple beast did land hits on both Burok and his griffon, thankfully not entangling the griffons wings in the outstretched tongue attack. Burok decided his best course of actions was try to jump and land on this beast, missing his target he did slide down him while using his weapon to do some damage.
