Elturel

Elturel is a theocratic city located on the Chionthar River, in the western region of Faerun. It is known for its shining beauty and its commitment to justice and righteousness. Elturel is home to many temples and shrines, dedicated to the worship of various deities of goodness and light. The city's streets are filled with traders, craftsmen, and adventurers seeking their fortune, and its many taverns and inns are known for their hospitality and sense of community, driven by their devotion to one of the religions that makes it home in the city.

Elturel is governed by a council of high priests known as the High Hall. The High Hall is made up of the leaders of the city's major temples and religious orders, and they are responsible for the governance and protection of the city. Each member of the High Hall is responsible for the affairs of their respective temple as well as overseeing the administration of the city covered by the domain of their god. Political wrangling over which God is responsible for which aspect of government can lead to high tensions between temples and their orders of paladins.

Despite these divisions, the paladins do come together under the banner of the Order of the Companion, who are responsible for defending the city from external threats and maintaining order within. Within the Companions, an elite group known as the Hellriders are charged with defending Elturel against the forces of darkness and evil, even launching sorties into the Nine Hells. The Hellriders are known for their bravery, their martial prowess, and their unwavering commitment to the cause of good.The Order of the Companion is highly respected and revered in Elturel, and its members are seen as heroes and defenders of the city's values and way of life. Overall, Elturel is a city of great faith and tradition, and its governance reflects these values.
