Blood on the Dawnflower

Blood on the Dawnflower Khoírë (a.k.a. Dawn)

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Khoire was lithe and dextrous, capable of moving fast and climbing swiftly. Aware of his movements and the sounds he would make, he was able to move silently even in his plate armour, and nicked his opponents with swift movements, tiring them out.

Body Features

Soft aand-coloured fur with sparse black stripes covered his body. He showed some signs of muscles, but his dexterity was likely more striking to an onlooker due to him wearing a cloak at most to all times, even if he wasn't ashamed of shedding all clothes. His feet were digitigrade and, like his hands, had pads, albeit more hardened. His hands had retractable claws.

Physical quirks

Prefers licking himself clean. His tail swishes when agitated, and at his most comfortable, he purrs.

Apparel & Accessories

A necklace with a graglion tooth between two stones. It's usually placed underneath all of his clothes.   One of the first thing people seem to notice about him is his number of weapons (longbow, quarterstaff, shortsword, and handaxes).

Personal history

Life before the party

Born as the son of Sun Smiles Upon the Dunes, Khoirë was raised as per Khathari tradition, acquiring most of his skills by himself based on his interest. In his teens, wanting to prove his merit as a fighter, he went to gather dawnflowers along with his childhood friend, Lively. However, after a craglion attack that Lively saved Khoirë from, the former lost his ability to walk, which Khoirë blamed himself for. He, filled with shame, refused his first given name of Tears on the Mountainside and instead named himself Blood on the Dawnflower to constantly remind himself of his perceived failure, even after he realized that was not the case.   After running away, he spent years in the desert, seeking out animals larger than himself, claiming to want them for himself to gain a pet, which is when he met the party while scouting a camp of the Hooded Eye that had captured an Aelith.

Sexuality

Khoirë only ever showed any form of interest in anyone at the beginning of his joint journey with the party, though, whether out of an inability to interest others in him or a lack of genuine investment on his part, nothing serious was ever born out of these interactions. As such, his sexuality never became a point of discussion; however, his attempts at flirting with his environment, in presence of the party, was mainly aimed at men.

Education

As per the Khathari way, he taught himself in a lot of his skills - first in the tribe, later on in the desert. As such, especially in the later part of his life, he lacked the resources to acquire a lot of knowledge and social skills. He did, however, receive an education in fighting from his mother.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Managing to reunite with his tribe, taming the Stormrider Stormy Tempered, gaining more control of himself, killing off a Stormdrake and keeping its venom as proof as well as bringing its flesh to his mother and sharing it with other people.

Failures & Embarrassments

Not being quick enough against the Craglion, resulting in Lively being paralyzed; awaking an ancient god of the Highborn Centhiri, a lack of social skills and trust in others, trying far too late to unite his fragmented party, failing to resolve the Stormcaller incident successfully.

Intellectual Characteristics

I know I'm an idiot - that's all I've ever been, all I am, and I'll ever be. At least, that's what people tell me, so why not let people know what to expect?
Neither Khoirë nor his acquaintances made a secret out of his general lack of knowledge and social skills, instead often making fun of him - especially his tribe after the reunion. More so, Khoirë often showed behaviour that encouraged regarding him as a fool, maybe more so than he ultimately was.

Morality & Philosophy

What's wrong with dreams that are easy to achieve? I never really got why people always had to aim for the impossible - curing an incurable disease, world peace, becoming something they might never be: Those can be noble, fulfilling goals, but I'm just me, and I can't do that. So why have a dream I can never hope to achieve? I'd rather aim for something that can actually fulfill me, and when I'm able to do it, search for another goal, than chase after some mirage I can never reach. I want to drink sometime, you know.
Khoirë always strove to be free, other than being bound by Issad, he resisted attempts to cage him, be it in a figurative or literal sense. One might think, especially before learning his motives regarding the animals he tried to "tame", that would prevent him from acquiring a pet and thus binding it to him, but even when trying to tame Stormy, he allowed for an option to fly away if all had failed.   Valuing voluntary bonds, he strived to unite the party as a personal goal both to deepen trust and to ensure a stronger group. As such, he entered others' spaces in an attempt to get them to talk about their feelings to integrate them into the group. Realizing it'd be hypocritical to unite the group as someone deeply troubled by his past, he only attempted to do so after reuniting with his mother and Lively.

Taboos

Khoirë's highest taboo, especially against Khathari, was caging someone in any way. Faced with this, he had a tendency towards violence or robbing himself of consciousness as an alternative to that, though his self-control in this regard improved throughout his journey.
