Pavarhi Bloom (पवारी खिले)

The pavarhi bloom is a plant which is only found naturally occuring in Jenarus.

Basic Information

Anatomy

A mature pavarhi bloom has six to twelve thick, rigid leaves which can grow up to a foot long. These leaves sproud from a thick central stalk near the ground, causing the leaves to bloom out in a circular ring. From the center of the ring, a narrower stalk grows up to three feet tall, on top of which is a teardrop shaped flower with pointed petals. This flower opens for a short period during the day when the sun is directly overhead, and closes back up after about two hours. Pavarhi roots are thick taproots that create a coiled shape underground, with thinner lateral roots spreading out horizontally. When straightened out, mature roots can be up to four feet long, and up to six inches thick.

Paputua

Paputua (पपुटुआ) is a viscous secretion produced by pavarhi roots which can be secreted and used as a type of "emergency water" in the event of a sudden drought. The paravhi bloom can survive up to one week without water, after which it will begin secreting paputua. When paputua production begins, the plant can survive up to a month before dying from exhaustion.

Additional Information

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Historically the pavarhi root was used to create a paste to mix naturally occuring pigment into paint in Jenarus. The roots would be removed from the stem and hung in dry area for several weeks, usually pinned on a line over a basin. without water, the roots begin to produce paputua which is collected in the basin below. With recent technology, this process is greatly sped up with use of heat lamps.   The paputua secretion is then mixed over several hours until it thickens, after which pigment powder created using flowers or minerals can be mixed in to create highly pigmented paint.
