Xzuricite (ZURR-i-site)
Xzuricite is an abnormal metal with unique properties that allows aspected magic to conduct through it.
Properties
Material Characteristics
In its ore state, it is matte and rocky. In its ore state it may appear to be pure white with occasional veins of various colors. The most common being blue, pink, and yellow, but Xzuricite has been discovered with additional less common colors. When processed, the color comes out to be more off-white after combining the vein colors with the natural white of the ore. Processed Xzuricite's color can vary pretty widely, as it's all dependent on the colors and number of veins found in the raw ore.
Physical & Chemical Properties
Xuricite has been found to have an amplification-like property in regards to magic. Magic is easily conducted through xuricite allowing magical infusion into machinery and technology. Additionally, depending on the quality of ore, xzuricite may be able to make conducted magic stronger. Some xuricite ore soaks up ambient magic like a sponge, significantly increasing the half-life of ambient magic making it very useful into investigations in which a crime was committed using magical means.
Geology & Geography
This material is found at high elevations on mountains almost exclusively in Riza. A vein has been discovered in the Danaghalli Peaks in Jenarus. As of writing, this is the only location that natural xzuricite is formed outside of Riza.
History & Usage
History
It was discovered by Horatius Xzurr, an elven scholar during a geological survey of modern-day Riza. It was discovered in 2439, 58 years before the nation of Riza was founded. It was initially used mostly for scrap metal, as its magical properties wouldn't be discovered until 2491. After people discover its ability to infuse technology with magic, the nation of Riza built itself around the known ore caves.
Everyday use
Xzuricite has been incorporated into the majority of machinery in Riza. Though it's primary use is to infuse weaponry with magic, it's also commonly used as an aid to people with weaker magic, or senior citizens whose magic has decayed over time. It's very commonly used by police during investigations in which magic has been used, as it's ability to slow the decay of ambient magic allows for magical crime scenes to be more efficiently preserved. It is used to give robotics magical aspects, allowing them to use magic like organic beings.
Distribution
Trade & Market
Xzuricite is regulated and traded by the Rizan government.
Law & Regulation
It's illegal to sell xzuricite in both its raw and refined forms as a Rizan citizen. If a Rizan discovers xzuricite, they can only sell it to the government. Citizen to citizen trade of xzuricite is illegal and punishable by fine.
