Chapter 2: Show me the Money!

The second chapter of this Kobold's Guide discusses metal currency in and around the world. Of course, this will expand as regions are discovered. Due to the extensive forgeries over the centuries, The Queendom of Serenity, along with many other Kingdoms and Factions around Ro'Kroya have turned to minting their own currency to combat this. Below are a few examples of these types of coins.   As a standard, each coin is approximately .32 oz (9.07 g) so there are 50 coins to 1 pound of their respective coin. There are a lot of different formulas out there that try and break down the exact weight and sizes but this is a fantasy game after all. With that being said, lets keep it simple. A copper or silver piece is about the size of a US dollar coin where as a gold or platinum piece is about the size of a US nickel. Obviously there can be different shapes throughout the regions but the weights will remain the same for simplicity's sake.

Trade Bars

Merchants and traders soon found that carrying around large quantities of coins were to cumbersome so they developed a more practical system for large transactions. The Trade Bar was designed using the very same precious metals that were already being accepted throughout the civilized world. In Eroth, the majority of trade bars in use are marked with the Seal of Serenity which depicts a Golden Oak Tree inside of a Golden Crescent Moon.   Just as with coins, trade bars are typically designed with weight in mind. They currently range in weights from 1, 2, 5, and 10 pound bars. Silver bars are the most prominent bars cast with gold being more rare. Platinum bars are almost unheard of and copper bars are not worth the trouble.   The most commonly traded bars in Eroth are silver measuring 6 in x 2 in x 1 in and has a weight of 5 pounds which is currently valued at 25 gp.
