Background

Prior to the Dragon Onslaught, Goblins were primarily cave dwellers in the Irontop Mountains, living in relative isolation and often perceived with apprehension and fear by other races. The cataclysmic Dragon Onslaught brought about widespread devastation, altering the political and geographical landscape of Eroth.

The Decision to Descend

In the aftermath, the Goblin communities faced a crucial decision. The destruction wrought by the onslaught and the changing dynamics in Eroth prompted a reevaluation of their place in the world. Led by visionary leaders, the Goblins began to contemplate a move that would forever change their destiny.

The Migration

On Summerfell 11th, 2 A.D.O., under the guidance of these leaders, the Goblins embarked on a mass migration from the Irontop Mountains. Their journey was arduous, marked by uncertainty and the challenge of traversing unfamiliar terrains. However, driven by the promise of a new beginning, they persevered.

Claiming the Rolling Grasslands

Upon reaching the Rolling Grasslands, the Goblins were met with a vast expanse of fertile land, untapped and ripe for cultivation. Recognizing the potential of these lands, they swiftly laid claim to the region. This was not without its challenges, as they had to adapt to the open landscapes, which starkly contrasted their mountainous homes.

Establishing a New Society

The Goblins quickly began to till and cultivate the land. Their innate resourcefulness and adaptability shone through as they transformed into efficient farmers. The mineral-rich soil of the Grasslands proved to be exceptionally fertile, leading to abundant harvests.

The Birth of the Merchant Empire

The surplus produce created an opportunity for trade. The Goblins, seizing this chance, began to establish trade routes and contacts with neighboring regions. This marked the beginning of the Merchant Empire of Sarolt. Their agricultural products, high in quality and quantity, found eager buyers, helping to rebuild the war-torn economies of Eroth. Not only did they sell their produce but they also traded it for land. Because of other nations and their willingness to trade away their lands for resources, Sarolt is not one of the largest and wealithiest nations on Eroth.

Impact on Goblin Society

This period of transformation had a profound impact on Goblin society. Their image as reclusive cave dwellers shifted to that of prosperous farmers and respected traders. The success of their endeavors in the Rolling Grasslands not only ensured their survival but also elevated their status among the races of Eroth.
