He is on the trail of a rogue dwarf who has stolen a magical gem that helps detect where the best seams are for mining ores. The dwarf who stole the gem is distantly related to Logezor (the dwarf miner in the vale) but his elder brother was sent to check first and has not returned hence he is on the trail and has arrived in the vale.
