Session 04
General Summary
Nex Pervenio delved deeper into the dangerous dwarven mine. As they proceeded down a
passage, the sound of cascading water grew louder. Eventually they saw the spray of a waterfall as
it tumbled into a shallow pool. More dwarf corpses littered the floor of the chamber. They
appeared to have been warriors rather than miners, though most of their armour and weapons were
gone. These dwarfs also lacked their hands.
More myconid plant creatures lurked nearby and moved swiftly to attack en masse, aided by some
kind of mobile vine. Of more concern were two strange beasts, identified as rust monsters, who it
was suspected were responsible for eating all the metallic objects throughout the mine. Heavily
armoured Argus was the most concerned about contact with these, so they were attacked heavily
from range and soon dropped. The battle raged in the doorway, heavily clumped. As before this
enabled Dash, Valun and Riya to fight freely while Argus, Shinobi and Mika threw themselves
into the fray. Soon enough the plant creatures were destroyed.
Continuing to explore, a long twisting passage led to a huge chamber, split by cliffs into three
tiers. The lowest tier featured a deep pit while immediately above it on the middle tier was some
kind of ritual vessel attended by a sinister tiefling figure. Larger colonies of myconids stood
nearby. Meanwhile a dracolich was on the uppermost tier, nestled amongst some blood fungus.
This would be a titanic fight!
Was the tiefling in league with Lareth? Was this an elemental evil plot? It seemed not, as the
tiefling manically declared her hatred of the dwarfs for what theyd done to her son, Bael.
Coincidentally, there was a tiefling slave called Bael at the temple of Erathis back in Londinium
As Shinobi shuffled around, trying to peer further into the cavern, he was spotted by a myconid,
the alarm was sounded and all hell broke loose. The tiefling uttered words of pain and control and
slid Shinobi across the floor and into the pit, powerless to resist. Two undead, known as forsaken
shells, came charging out of alcoves and leapt onto Argus, blocking entry into the room.
Undaunted, Shinobi pulled off a spectacular monk move to teleport from the pit straight into
melee with the tiefling! The dracolich came to its aid and rended Shinobi mercilessly.
Meanwhile Argus had forced back the undead, so his comrades could get into the room and direct
much-needed healing spells to Shinobi. Just as it seemed they had the fight under control, a swarm
of dwarven hands animated and attacked. But they proved only a brief annoyance. Shinobi left the
tiefling and leapt down, followed by the dracolich as the battle raged on the lowest tier. This left
the tiefling and myconids free to create an aerial bombardment. The tiefling was particularly cruel
in that she could slide victims into the pit. More dwarven hands were continually escaping from
the pit and attacking viciously.
Valun pointed at the dracolich and ordered his comrades to slay it in the name of Asmodeus.
Weakened by a terrible curse it soon succumbed and collapsed into dust. This freed up Nex
Pervenio to pursue the tiefling and she was swiftly dealt with, though Shinobi spared the killing
blow and merely knocked her out, intrigued by the mention of Bael. After that it was a formality
to deal with the remaining myconids.
So it seemed they had solved the mystery of what had happened to the mine. Time to return to
Forgehome. But first speak with this tiefling
The mine continued deeper, what further dangers might it conceal?
