Session 07
General Summary
Having thoroughly questioned the duergar leader, he was left restrained while Nex Pervenio
turned their attention to the remainder of the tomb. Shinobi examined the lock which had resisted
the duergars best attempts to pick it. With a practiced click of his fingers it opened. With all
lights doused, the door was quietly opened a crack to peek through. Beyond all was inky black and
utterly silent. The air was stale and still. Thick dust lay undisturbed on the floor. This place had
clearly remained sealed for many years, centuries even.
Shinobi and Dash crept in, their already-stealthy steps muffled further by the thick dust. Ahead the
room opened up to both sides. Ahead, just visible around the corner, were two dinosaur skeleton
specimens. Peeking into the room proper revealed two more dinosaur skeletons. There was also a
large statue dedicated to Asmodeus. All remained quiet and still.
As trained adventurers, fully expecting the statue and/or skeletons to animate and attack at any
moment, Shinobi and Dash decided to regroup and let Argus take the lead, with torches blazing.
As they advanced into the room, their suspicions were justified as the skeletons sprang to life and
charged in to attack those disturbing their tomb. They were joined by a large guardian naga. The
statue remained inert.
Argus and Shinobi formed a shield wall against the skeletons. Meanwhile the naga hurled magical
attacks from afar. Leaving Shinobi to fend off the skeletons, Argus headed for the naga,
accompanied by Mika and Riya. Meanwhile Dash was steadily obliterating skeletons. It didnt
take long for the undead guardians to be destroyed and the tomb lay quiet once more.
Taking a closer look around the room, it was vividly decorated with friezes and wall inscriptions.
These contained historical details from the time when Gar Morra was founded.
The Seven Clans of dwarfs planned their migration from the shallow Underdark way into the deep
where their new city would be founded. One dwarf spoke out, a paladin of Moradin. He had
received prophetic visions foretelling of doom, a great army of aboleths assaulting the new city.
He was ignored and in fact exiled when it emerged he now worshipped Asmodeus, the source of
the visions. Of course after Gar Morra was founded an army of aboleths attacked but by then it
was too late.
While Valun mused over the religious significance of all this, Shinobi engaged in the more
mundane task of checking an onward door for traps and picking the lock. Again lights were
doused and the door opened a crack. As before, all lay dark and silent beyond. Shinobi and Dash
slipped in, the room soon opening up into a large chamber, with a raised balcony area on 3 sides.
A sarcophagus lay in the centre of the room, with a much larger and grander sarcophagus near the
far wall. Six more sarcophagi were spaced evenly along the balcony.
Once more Argus was brought to the fore and the whole room bathed in bright light. The
gladiators spread out, prepared for anything, as Argus slid the top off the largest of the sarcophagi.
It did not contain the dwarf paladin as expected, instead out leapt an angry skeletal dragon lunging
for Argus! The lids popped off all the other sarcophagi and out sprang the dwarf paladin who had
been transformed into a mummy, while those on the balcony contained strange undead known as
green arcanians. This would prove to be an extremely dangerous fight.
As usual, Argus was in the thick of things, caught between the dragon and the mummy.
Meanwhile the arcanians were pelting all and sundry with toxic balls of acid. Nex Pervenio
focussed all attacks on the mummy but were horrified to see it shrug off their attacks and heal
itself. Meanwhile the rain of acid was causing all sorts of injuries and it took everything Valun and
Riya had to protect themselves and their comrades. Another flurry of attacks saw the mummy
drop. As it did so, a huge cloud of choking dust emerged from its corpse, surely unhealthy to be
breathing that in? The attention now switched to the dragon and it succumbed soon after. The
arcanians had maintained their barrage of acid uninterrupted throughout but now the gladiators
turned their attention to them, they turned out easily disposed of. One by one they fell, though not
before putting both Dash and Valun on the verge of death.
Valun was happy to discover a ritual scroll which would allow him to conduct a Loremasters
Bargain with Asmodeus himself!
Battered and wounded, Nex Pervenio retired to their inn, all the way up on the first tier of
Maelbrathyr. They worried about the effects of the horrid mummy dust
