Session 09
General Summary
The party discovered they were sat at the table with the Bradley-Dimpinshires, a noble couple
from Sasserine, Bolar Westkey, the gnome owner of Westkey Maps, Dalam Bandershield, half orc
ex-bodyguard of the Aslaxins, now ownder of Ironguard Security business in Sasserine, Tyro
Amberhelm, dwarven merchant and art expert and Vortimax Weer, the sage and alchemist. The
First Course was the Demonskar Dips. All sipped at Bubbling Cauldron drink but no one drank
more than one after their warning. At this stage Dalam began drinking heavily.
The Stormblades and Magma Force were both praised and toasted in Lord Aslaxin's opening
speach. Bolar asked about the party's role in Keygan Ghelves incarceration. He became friendly
when it emerged that Morgan spoke up for Keygan at his trial. Lady Bradley-Dimpinshire told
Harley he reminded her of one of her servants. Vortimax Weer started to quiz Camero about his
knowledge of Alchemy and was impressed that he at least knew something.
The Second Course was Surabar Soup. During this course the guests were supposed to guess the
riddle of the banquet. Harley and Camero got it in about three seconds flat much to the annoyance
of the Stormblades. During this course Tyro Amberhelm asked Harley of his thoughts on rogues,
thieves and scoundrels. Dalam was quite drunk and started to brag about his adventuring days and
prompted the party to tell of their exploits. Vortimax put the half orc down with his tale of
destroying a horde of trolls with a wave of his hand. Then as Lady Aslaxin listened on Camero
told the tale of the demon in the Kopru Ruins and him single handedly saving the party with his
magic. Lady Aslaxin declared Camero the winner of the bragging competition. Vortimax was
disappointed when Camero could not answer a fairly basic alchemy question and refused to talk to
him about the subject anymore.
The Main Course was next: redgorge roast. As servants came out with a huge tray containing the
massive boar, a couple stumbled and almost dropped the tray but Lord Alek Tercival lept over the
top table and caught it then amazed everyone as he carried it singlehandedly to the serving table.
Dalam bragged that he could easily lift such a pig by himself. Bolar laughed at him and Dalam got
angry but Bolar suggested that Gotrek could beat Dalam in a test of strength. Tyro mentioned he'd
spotted a cart near some rubbish sacks outside which could be used as a test of strength. Gotrek
and Dalam agreed to slip outside and see who was the strongest. A few others from the table
followed. After a tough lift-off, Gotrek just won.
The Fourth Course, Spellmason Surprise was next, a beautiful desert pie filled with sweet fruits
and served with cream. During this course the Stromblades appraoched the party table. The party
grew suspicious as the Stormblades engaged in banter and counter bragging. It emerged that
Morgan's drink had gotten spiked but fortunately he had palmed it off to Dalam. Everyone's food
had also been poisoned though and this made the group all quite wobbly. Not good coming up to a
dance off! Vortimax Weer checked up on the poison and told them the best short term cure was to
eat lots of food.
The fifth course came next: crater cake. This was made by Lady Aslaxin and it was rumoured that
it was absolutely disgusting last year. All the party, needing to eat lots to fight the poison, drived
in and ate loads of cake which impressed Lady Aslaxin. This year, thanks godness, it also tasted
lovely! There was a bragging competition between Dalam and Vortimax but Camero dropped in a
quick tale of him singlehandedly taking out a demon in the Kopru Ruins under the city and Lady
Aslaxin declared Camero the winner of the bragging competition. That was the end of the
banquet.
The Clash of the Armies. All the guests moved to the dance hall once more and there undertook
the Clash of Armies dance. Camero was partnered with Cora Lathenmire of the Stormblades.
Harley was with the Chancellor, Terri. Braken teamed up with Embril the High Priestess of Wee
Jas again. Gotrek was teamed up with Gwendolyn Bradley Dimpinshire. Camero proceeded to
absolutely run rings around Cora, embarasing her so much she fled the ballroom in tears. There
was much rejoicing.
The Finale: The Demonskar Dance. A circle was made and Nabthatoron (Morgan) and Surabar
Spellmason (Lord Aslaxin the host) danced the complex and intricate steps of the Demonskar
Dance. Morgan was amazing, hardly puting a foot wrong through this extremely challenging
dance. At the end both dancers received raptuous applause from all assembled.
There followed a period of mingling with the nobles and general hobnobbing. Lord Vhalantru
invited the party and Celeste back to the Cusp of Sunrise for a few more after party drinks. They
went back there and spent a few hours chatting to the Lord and Lady and playing "gem snatcher"
for large amounts of money.
The party handled the Demonskar Ball supremely well. They made some great friends and
impressed many of the cities important and powerful people. They embarrassed and annoyed the
Stormblades. A fabulous time was had by all.
