Rakib
The Rakib are Al-Zaluma's rank-and-file officers, tasked with law enforcement but often compromised by corruption and flexible qualifications.
Qualifications
The qualifications for becoming a Rakib are a curious blend of formality and pragmatism. Officially, one must be a citizen of the Caliphate, at least 18 years of age, and possess a basic level of literacy and numeracy. A background check is conducted, although its thoroughness can vary depending on who is doing the checking and what influences may be at play.
Basic training is indeed a requirement, typically lasting a period of six weeks. This training includes lessons in basic combat, law enforcement procedures, and the ethical guidelines that are supposed to govern their conduct. However, the effectiveness of this training is often questionable, given that many Rakib seem more skilled in the arts of bribery and intimidation than in upholding the law.
It's worth noting that while these are the official qualifications, exceptions are often made. Family connections, bribes, or simply being in the right place at the right time can all serve as alternative pathways into the ranks of the Rakib.
