Parents

Mistake's parents love each other dearly, but couldn’t figure out how to love the screaming infant they didn’t want, demanding food they couldn’t provide. They took care of her as best they could, but remained emotionally distant from their daughter even as Mistake grew.
Over the years, they’ve recognized how they could be better parents, but change is never easy. With Mistake at college, it almost seems too late to try. Yet all Mistake wants is to do one thing to make her parents glad they brought her into this world.

Joy (she/her)

As seamstress, Joy knows many members of the community despite her social awkwardness. Often, people will find holes patched they never even mentioned needed patching.
Bloodline: Unknown.

Rezzy (short for Resilience) (he/him)

Rezzy works in carpentry. His standards for what makes a building or piece of furniture safe to use are often higher than he can accomplish with the meager materials he's able to procure.

Friends

There are around 1,000 tieflings in Redfell and Mistake would know many, at least in passing. The ones below are her closest friends. They have a hangout in a partially-collapsed building they’ve decorated with anything they could find.

Cess (short for Cesspool) (he/him)

Believes in being honest about who/what you are. Chose the name Cesspool to reflect tieflings’ status in Redfell. Was Mistake’s (literal) partner in crime before she toned down her activities. He's only escalated his.
Bloodline: Glasya, Hell’s criminal mastermind. Knows Minor Illusion.

King (he/him)

Believes in treating the world like you want it to be. Has a near-opposite perspective as Cess, and they often have good-natured debates. Has become Mistake’s closest friend over the last few years.
Bloodline: Possibly Zariel, who grants magical abilities to aid in battle. Knows Thaumaturgy.

Dream (she/her)

A couple years older than Mistake and seen as calm and responsible. Prefers to listen more than to speak, and hasn’t told anyone why she chose the name Dream.
Bloodline: Possibly Asmodeus, who grants intellect. Knows Thaumaturgy.

Indy (short for Indana) (she/her)

Dream’s younger sister and the youngest of the friend group. Undecided on her virtue name, if she wants one at all. A bit shy and adores her big sister, but has more of a tendency toward mischief.
Bloodline: Likely the same as her sister. Knows Thaumaturgy.

Sekori (he/him)

Decided to keep his infernal name rather than choose a virtue name (“they’re fine, just not for me”). Tries to act cool and suave but is secretly awkward and a bit clumsy. Has a huge crush on Dream.
Bloodline: Fierna. Knows Friends, which he learned about the hard way (accidentally).

A note on bloodlines:
Most tieflings are a mix of bloodlines, but one ends up dominant and grants some magical ability(ies). Any impact on personality is anecdotal, but Mistake and her friends believe there’s some truth to it and try to figure out their own and others' bloodlines.
Since historical family records have long been destroyed, the only way to know your bloodline is to see what abilities you develop over time. Several bloodlines offer similar abilities, requiring knowing multiple to be able to know for sure.
Tiefling healers in Redfell have been trying to track this information to recreate what's been lost, but guard the information closely. They're reluctant to share lest the humans destroy it again.
