Crystalarium

A crystalarium is a key item in the homes of most within the Idran empire. It serves as places to store the various singing crystals that a family accumulates over the years. They are usually simple boxes with smaller boxes inside. The smaller boxes have sound proofing inside of them and room for one singing crystal. Each box is labeled with the name of the spell stored on that singing crystal.

Construction

A crystalarium can be as simple as plain wood with sound proofing or as complicated and ornate as money can buy. They are staples in the homes that they adorn. Many of the richer Idrans have made them into elaborate wall mountings that are as beautiful as they are practical. The sound proofing is usually simple foam that has had some flute or clarinet spells placed on it to allow them to isolate and protect the spells inside. More advanced crystalaria have hushstone linings of the small boxes. A small separate chamber is usually kept at the top right of the crystalarium for the striking crystal that is used to release the spells from the other singing crystals.

Invention

Reginald Engineer designed the first crystalarium. He reports that he was inspired by the idea after using a spell that he thought would chop up his onion that actually chopped off his prized mustache. After that, he devised the first crystalarium to keep his singing crystals separate, labeled, and clean. His friends were soon clamoring for crystaria of their own, and the inventions spread like wild fire through the capital of Oja. It wasn't long before crystalaria were commonplace throughout the entire empire. Most crystalaria are made in the city of Quring and shipped to the reaches of the Idran empire.
