Time and Planet Movements

Ropla and Spawn are twin planets. Each planet rotate around itself, they rotate around each other, and together, they move in a circular motion around the sun.

Manifestation

The movements of the planets affects the light on Ropla as well as the movement of the dark zone. This has been used by the residents for the composition of a calendar, but also has magical effects, making specific kinds of magic more effective at certain parts of the year.

Time

The Roplan doga is the time it takes for the twin planets together to rotate a full turn. In human time, this period is about 26 hours and it is observed on the planet as the time from one sunset till the next, when not accounting for Roplas own turning.
Spin is the name for 300 dogas. This is the time it takes for Ropla to do a full spin around the axis perpendicular to the axes pointing towards Spawn and the Sun. Since Ropla also spins horizontally, this isn't easy to track. The Spins are mentioned as the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Last Spins of a year.
A year on Ropla is the time it takes for the twin planets to move in a complete circle around the sun. It is 4 spins or 1200 dogas long.

This planetary movement only applies to the world of Ropla containing the planets Ropla, and Spawn.

The Dark Zone

At any point in time, an area about the size of a territory on Ropla will be so close to Spawn, that certain monsters and creatures can migrate across it and move between the planets. As Ropla turns compared to Spawn, the dark zone moves around the planet. This has lead to the Festival of Passing on Ropla, a festival which moves with the Dark Zone.
