Rime / Rhyme

A great conglomeration of shards stretching across the sky; millions of shards orbiting Ruethö as if one solid entity. On the first night of every month, the moon seems to reform and a great aura surrounds it, projecting an incredible amount of the reflected light from the sun upon the world.

Once a great, luminous satellite of quartz-like crystal. Though the exact details are debated, most would agree the formation was exceptionally brittle, and that a celestial force acted upon it to cause the shattering. Some learned men believe our moon to slowly be reforming, that it will one day repair itself and sit solid in our sky at all times. I do not understand what lay behind that logic, but I very much wish to see it.

Due to the shards spreading out into a ring and reforming, the tides change to an extreme degree, rising as far as 100 feet. Coastal cities often employ watergates and ban ships from unberthing until the tides return to normal.
