Bred Horses
These are no normal horses. While the wild horse can run up to 45 miles an hour and averages about 12, these special horse can reach speeds of up to 60 miles an hour and can go at about 30 for several hours. They are also remarkably powerful and can power huge mills in cities without a river. This power also allows them to pull heavy carts while staying at about 20 miles an hour. Another way their power is harnessed is pulling ferries across rivers or narrow stretches of ocean with long ropes.
All of these remarkable abilities and powers have put them in very high demand across the world. The price of the horse, however, depends on its abilities. Only large organizations, governments, militaries, and the very wealthy can afford some of the faster and stronger horses while some of the less selectively bred and the runts are left for everybody else. Some companies have also bought these horses to pull carts with paying passengers on aboard who might not be able to afford one or who want more safety. Some cities and governments also offer free rides to passengers which they buy with tax money.
The demand for the horses has made the breeders very wealthy and powerful. Many others have tried to repeat their success but to no avail.
