Kthiintl

Divine Domains

Kthiintl is deity of wind. Within their domain, then, are the birds that fly, along with rain.

For the lower class, in contrast to Txuuk, god of shelter, where humans and animals alike retreat to find safety from the wind, Kthiintl also represents the wild, the raw unsheltered land. Hunters and shepherds, both found in this land, reside in their domain, as well as Shepherd's Peppermint. In opposition to residing in shelter, Kthiintl also rules over pulling things out, or drawing things out. For instance, Cinpruxt associate breath with Kthiintl, continually pulling wind out of the body. Similarly, pulling water out of the ground can reflect Kthiintl.

The most obvious drawing-out-of is drawing creatures out of their homes--or hunting. During a hunting trip, people are drawn out of their homes into the wild, a reflection of Kthiintl, and they search for other animals pulled out of their homes, a homage to Kthiintl. Therefore, they have a relation with hunting. Because of their association with birds, hunting parties will never kill a bird neither eat their eggs for fear of Kthiintl's rage while in their land.

The Upper-Class Cinprxt never travel out to the wild lands, so instead of hunting, they associate Kthiintl instead with love and marriage. They draw people out of their homes to meet each other and start a new family and so is associated with coming-of-age celebrations; they similarly draw love out of people's hearts. In the city-based culture, birds are harbingers of love, and feathers and all symbols of Kthiintl are also symbols of romance, marriage, and love. The only hunt the upper class care about is the hunt for a romantic partner.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

The creatures of the wind are the symbols of Kthiintl, including birds in flight and feathers. Since ribbons blow freely in the wind, they are often associated with them as well. A hunting trip can also be a symbol, as with a wedding.

Tenets of Faith

A hunting trip is also a symbol of the deity, called a jaald. Every aspect of the hunt must appease them in order for it to be successful. Drawing animals out of their homes is part of the domain of Siinxuthin. The hunt is also part of their domain, since the Cinpruxt are drawn out of their homes and cities in order to hunt, and the animals are also in order to be hunted.

In order to further appease the deity, the hunters wear special hats, called dlad, and travel in special structures. Since head-straps are designed to oppose the wind and keep the hat on the head, the caps are strapless. Instead, a chord runs through the rim of it, which they tie in order to tighten it to their head. It has no rim either, in order to be more stealthy and lighter. Lastly, they crown them with feathers, similar to birds relate to the wind deity, and ribbons that blow freely and lightly in the wind. Their structures, simple leather tents, are mobile and light, designed to easily set them up near game. They are not made of stone, and so are not considered "shelter" nor contrary to the Kthiintl.

It is forbidden to kill or eat a bird or eggs during the kudphat since they are sacred creatures to the wind.
