The Vast

Drift travel technology divides the galaxy into two sectors: Near Space and the Vast.   Largely unexplored, the millions of Vast worlds are significantly more difficult to get to than Near Space. While they tend to lie farther out from the galactic center, the key criterion is the density of Drift beacons. Thus, uncharted zones near the galaxy's core may also be part of the Vast.
