Elventine Empire

It is perhaps strange that we know so little about the Elventine, although there are mitigating factors to consider.   The Elventine is believed to have effectively died late in the Age of Conquest, approximately one and a half millennium ago. Human activity during the Age seems to be responsible for this, as they occupied cities and set about destroying all references to the culture and history that predated their conquest; similarly the Elventine began to burn their cities to the ground rather than allow humans to capture them no doubt destroying countless historic, religious, and cultural artefacts.   The Age of Blood no doubt contributed further, with much that was the Elventine pillaged further. It seems strange, but the greatest bastion of knowledge that endured the Age of Conquest, that being the Sideaneth in the Kingdom of Selu’Qidar, that had been used to collect virtually all artefacts that remained, suffered a mysterious fire that destroyed the building, its entire stock, and a large number of archivists in the Age of Blood.   The oral history traditions of the gnomes and dryads has made research unproductive. The histories of Ozar’Nack were thought to contain useful information, however, the Darkquake damaged their records, seemingly all that related to the Elventine. The Infernal-Draconic Ascendancy were believed to have records on the Elventine, however, at an unknown date these records seem to have been lost.   The date the Elventine was found has long, like much of elven history, been lost to time; though it is clear that such events occurred early within the Age of the Elder Races. It is said that the five great clans joined as one under an Elf known only in legend as Fasdaoin, who was as legends say chosen by Corellon Larethian     The Age of Conquest effectively ended the Elventine. The Elventine was weakened and fractured, as the Kingdom of Avadel began its expansion the Elventine slowly but surely crumble under Human swords and fire, and humans occupied Elventine cities when they captured them, and built on the ruins of them after they had been torn down. Not only were Elventine cities tore down but their culture, history, and religion as but the end of the Age of Conquest every form Elventine city had tasted Human steel and flame. With this what fractions of the Elventine took their independence and what territory remained unoccupied by Avadel and other smaller Human kingdoms.   The legacy and influence of the Elventine has lived on well beyond its death. The forest gnomes and elves that were the majority of its citizens still hold resentment towards the humans for tearing down their once great empire. Many of these races forlorn for the days when the elder races, not the humans, were the masters of Runetalras. The legacy of the Elventine has also influenced the elven majority kingdoms, with the Kingdom of Selu'Qidar declared intent is to create a new kingdom to rival the Elventine, the peoples of Legarvren hoping to restore the Elventine, Elnuria claiming to live as their forefathers in the Elventine did, and the wanderings elves seeking to rediscover their lost past. The legacy of Elventine is also one of the primary motivations behind the Second Sundering of the High Elves.
