Howling Griffins

The Howling Griffins, also known as the Thaxnorian Special Forces, are an elite special forces unit within the ThaxnorianMilitary. They operate outside of the normal chain of command and report directly to the Crown, additionally they are maintained even during peace times.

History

The Howling Griffins were created by House Gathral when it was restored to the Throne of Thaxnoria, at the end of the Second Thaxnorian Civil in 466:Contempt. Their purpose was to uncover plots from and deal justice to dissenters, traitors, and usurpers. Initially it looked likely that the Howling Griffins would cease to exist once the remnants of the usurpers had been eliminated, but it seems the Howling Griffins were too useful a tool for the Crown to part with.
Once House Gathral secured the throne of Thaxnoria once more the Howling Griffins have been used to seek out enemies of the Crown, including rebels, rogue nobles, Tee'Chaher, and even bandits lords, any who seek to disrupt the rule of House Gathral.

Purpose

The Howling Griffins have a remarkably simple purpose:
Uncover The Howling Griffins are tasked with uncovering plots and treason, from any source be they commoners, terrorist organisations like the Tee'Chaher, or even nobles. They have wide discretion to uncover these disents, and are know to do so they do this through a variety of means including infiltration, spying, extortion, and torture
Purge The Howling Griffins are also tasked with eliminating threats to the Thaxnorian Crown and have discretion on how this is done, so long as there is no longer a threat. They have been known to vary in their tactics, from turning a target into an asset to bloody assissation, all for reasons of state.
Loyalty The Howling Griffins are loyal to a fault. Their loyalty to the Crown, their leaders, and one another is unwavering even in the face torture and death, very real prospects in their line of business.

Nature

The Howling Griffins are a brutal organisation dedicated to protecting Thaxnorian despite how bloody their hands may get in the process.

Members

The Howling Griffins are made up exclusively of hard bastards, people who have known adversity, battle, violence, and bloodshed. The majority of them are fighters, rogues, and rangers, but any who are loyal to the Crown and willing to bleed and get their hands dirty are welcome, so long as they make it past induction.

Where the Faction Operates

The Howling Griffins primarily operate within Kingdom of Thaxnoria and the regions surrounding the Free States, Kasari Dominion, and Infernal-Draconic Ascendancy, and Wild Isles.
